How To Avoid Costly Mistakes, And Get The Most From A Timeshare Tour

A timeshare tour can be a good way to see the potential of what you are buying, but it is important to realize that you will be subjected to a great deal of pressure selling. It is as well to realize at the very start that these tours are organized with the sole purpose of selling timeshare, and that you will spend the tour in a pressured environment. If you know in advance that you have no intention of actually purchasing a timeshare, it will be better to opt out of the tour before you get involved.

The timeshare industry does not have the greatest of reputations, and part of this is due to the pressure selling tactics which are employed by hungry salesmen who are solely out to make money. There are even greater dangers waiting to trap the unwary, and the most obvious of these is the contract itself. There are some extremely disreputable sellers of timeshare who will not make terms of contracts clear until it is too late, and when they do make them clear they will leave you in no doubt as to how delighted they are to have trapped you.

Many people lose thousands of dollars through contracts which are not clear. Often, the timeshare salesman will blatantly lie, by promising a benefit orally which is then not included in the written contract. Or, they may not mention a drawback or something which is required of the buyer, only to then include it in the written paperwork. Timeshare tours can be great windows of opportunity for the unscrupulous, especially if the resort is highly desirable.

Pressure selling is also employed in the recruiting of people to go on timeshare tours in the first place. Often, there will be a promotion in conjunction with another business, where the recipient of an offer is given something like a “vacation for $99”. This is done on the strict condition that they take the timeshare tour. Just how ruthless the pressure is can be seen by the restrictiveness of the eligibility requirements. This is no ethical promotion where it is accepted that a percentage of people will not buy, this is all out pressure selling.

If you are genuinely interested in buying timeshare at the resort, there is no reason not to take the timeshare tour. Just be absolutely sure that you make this choice in a non-pressured environment before you become involved in anything which involves pressure selling. Even if you are very interested in buying timeshare, make sure that the contract is thoroughly analyzed by a professional before it is signed. If you are ever offered a special deal for signing immediately, and told that the price will be far higher if you come back tomorrow, get out and stay out. This is a sure sign that there is something very wrong with this particular timeshare tour.
